Ronald Edward Crape

March 23, 1957 — July 23, 2024

Ronald Edward Crape was born on March 23, 1957, in Chehalis, Washington, to Art Crape Sr. and Helen Hanson. He passed away on July 23, 2024 in Portland, Oregon, from an unforeseen aneurysm.

Ron led a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family. He graduated from Mount St. Helens High School in Winlock, Washington, in 1975. Shortly after high school, he began work at Weyerhaeuser. In May of 1980 when Mt. St Helens blew he began work building new roadways. Ron worked for International Paper for 13 years. He retired from Pacific Fiber after a 26 year career.

Ron touched the hearts of all who knew him. Ron's personality shone brightly. He was the epitome of honesty, care, and love. His family always came first, and he made sure they never went without. To his wife, Lisa, and children, Ariel and Trevor, he was a pillar of strength and pride. Ron was not just a husband and father; he was a teacher, leader, and best friend to many.

Throughout his life, Ron created countless memories that will be cherished forever. From lazy summer days floating in the pool to stargazing at night, from road trips listening to the Eagles and Little River Band to cheering on the Seahawks in his 12th man jersey, he lived life to the fullest. His hobbies included tinkering in the garden, running heavy machinery, and decorating the house for the holidays, especially Christmas. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting by a fire with a cigar while camping with friends, and reminiscing about the good ole days.

Ron had a knack for connecting with people. He was easy to talk to, giving the best advice and resolutions to those in need. He had a way of making everyone laugh and brightened the atmosphere wherever he went. His kindness and willingness to help others endeared him to all who crossed his path. Ron's enduring legacy lies in the countless lives he touched with his compassion and wisdom.

His proudest accomplishments included marrying the love of his life, Lisa, on September 6, 1980, welcoming his daughter Ariel in May of 1986, his son Trevor in July of 1994, and completing the STP bike ride in the summer of 2001 with a friend.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Crape; his children, Ariel Crape and Trevor Crape (Katie); his siblings, Pat Sturza and Art Crape (Linda) and his brother-in-law Donald Goodwyn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Art Crape Sr. and Helen Hanson and his sister Linda Goodwyn.

Ronald Edward Crape will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished family member, and loyal friend. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a guiding light in the hearts of those who loved him.

A celebration of life with a potluck will be held Sunday, August 18, 2024 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Longview Moose Lodge.
