Ruth Lynn Daggett

Our beloved mother, Ruth Lynn Daggett (née Hansen, née Mejia), 66, of Longview, passed away on January 21, 2024, surrounded by her family after a sudden, unexpected decline in her health.

Ruth was born on June 4, 1957, to William and Mildred Hansen (Vickers) in Roseburg, Oregon. She grew up in the Portland area, where she met Juan Mejia, whom she married in 1974 and later divorced in 1991. Ruth is survived by her three children, who were her everything: son and daughter-in-law Chris and Angie Mejia of Longview, son Juan Mejia of Seattle, daughter Anna Mejia of West Linn, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by her sister Barbara Roske, brothers Chuck, Bill, Frank, and Larry Hansen, and her husband Roy Daggett, whom she wed in 2005.

When Ruth had Chris, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mom. Ruth excelled at propping up her kids and supporting them through all the passions and difficulties of their lives. She was loyal and giving to a fault, possessing a colorful vocabulary combined with the heart of a saint. Ruth had the “momma bear” mentality and would make sure everyone around her knew it. She was as loud and feisty as they came, always saying exactly what she thought.  Ruth was also known as the matriarch of her family and was the glue that continued to anchor and bring her entire family together throughout her adult life.  

Ruth loved bowling, playing bingo, and shopping for the latest activewear suits and shoes or boots. At home, she could often be found listening to the scanner, drinking coffee, and loving on her dogs, Buster and Smoky. Ruth also had a passion for cooking, ensuring her children never went hungry, and they will miss her greatly.

Ruth is preceded in death by her son Eric Mejia, her daughter Maria Mejia, her parents William and Mildred Hansen, and her sister Debbie Hahn.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Family Christian Center on Friday, February 2nd, at Noon. The address is 2203 38th Ave, Longview, WA 98632.
