Lifelong local resident Ruth "Hope" Wale, 91, of Longview died Jan. 7, 2024.
She was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Rose Valley, to Clarence Alvin and Ruth Elizabeth (Huffman) Cahoon. She attended R.A. Long High School and married her high school sweetheart, Gene L. Wale on July 15, 1950.
Hope was a wife, mother, business owner and caregiver. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, and its St. Joseph Circle and Alter Society, and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul.
Hope is survived by four children and their spouses, Linda and Marvin Chesley of Kelso, and Gene Jr. and Karry Wale, Allen and Heather Wale, and Kimberly Wale, all of Longview; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gene Wale; a son, Timothy Wale; six brothers; and two sisters.
A service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Longview.
