Steven Mads Sandahl

July 17, 1941 — February 27, 2025

Longview, Washington

Steven Mads Sandahl, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Longview, Washington, due to complications from a stroke. He was born on July 17, 1941, in Portland, Oregon, to Fredrick Wilhelm Sandahl and Hannah Elizabeth Sandahl.

Steve graduated from David Douglas High School in 1959, where he built the groundwork for a life full of adventure and a deep appreciation for the natural world. He proudly served his country for four years in the Coast Guard. His commitment to community was evident as he took on the role of President of the Rod and Gun Club, where he shared his knowledge and passion for the outdoors with fellow enthusiasts.

Steve leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Marie Cox (Daniel, son-in-law) and Laura Sandahl (daughter-in-law); his brother, Keith Sandahl (Juliana); his sister, Vanita Scholz (Richard, deceased); his stepsons, Lee Biles (Tammy) and Michael Biles (Jodie); his stepdaughters, Tammy (Sam) Christensen and Renee Richardson; as well as multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will carry on his legacy of kindness and creativity.

Steve was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Lynette Sandahl, who passed away on January 4, 2018; his son, Craig Steven Sandahl, who left us on January 31, 2024; his sister, LaDonna McCarty; and his parents.

Steve was a quiet reserved man, till you got to know him. He loved watching football and baseball at home with his cats. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. Steve was into rock collection- Cutting, polishing and making various kinds of jewelry out of them. He was really good at it. He enjoyed going to the Rainier Eagles consistently from 1-3 to hang out with his friends and drink a couple beers with them. I (Stephanie) really enjoyed my time at Eagles Nest Resort camping and just hanging out. Everyone is going to miss seeing Steve around town driving his big blue van with the white tigers on the side of it. Steve was a good man who will be greatly missed.

I love you Dad
