Terry Dean Hobbs, 63, of Longview passed away March 16, 2024, under Hospice care in Vancouver.
He was born in Longview, Wash., the sixth and last child of Dale and Edna Hobbs. He spent the next 20-plus years as a Castle Rock resident, and was a member of the Castle Rock High School Class of 1979. Shortly after high school Terry joined the Air Force and spent two years in South Korea.
Terry worked for The Daily News in Longview on the print line until the paper’s printing was outsourced to Albany, Ore. This was bad news for employees, but good news for Terry. He could free lance and become his own boss. He was an avid fisherman and could adhere to his philosophy, “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. If it is broke, I can fix it.” Terry would help anyone in need, and made a lot of friends that way. Two of his longtime best friends were Gary Carter and Bob Ward.
Terry is survived by a son, Don (Lisa); a daughter, Amanda; his five siblings, Dave (Barb), Dan (Paul), Carol (Bob Farmer), Karen (Mike), and Calvin.
At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. April 12 at Steele Chapel, 5050 Mt. Solo Road, in Longview. If you ever met Terry, you are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will follow in the chapel’s hospitality room.
