William David Bell, 79, of Grays River, Wash., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Portland V.A. Medical Center.
Bill was born Oct. 28, 1944. He was raised in Cowlitz County and attended Longview schools.
He served in the Army from January of 1968 to March of 1971, serving three tours in Vietnam. Bill was recognized for his valor with an Air Medal, Bronze Star, Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
Bill spent most of his working days as a laborer and belonged to the Local Labor Hall. In later years he resided in Grays River with his longtime companion, Debbie Mollenhour. He loved his canine companions, and never left a good Swisher Sweet cigar unsmoked.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Tracy Jaspers of Olympia; two sons, William “Brody” Bell of Longview and Cohby Bell of Woodland; a sister, Gwen; and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Ryan Bell; a brother, Gary; and a sister, Susan.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
